Country is very divided right now. There are lots of different little categories that different people like!
There's the Texas scene with artists like Cody Johnson, and Aaron Watson.
There's the new, Nashville-backed pop-country sound which is headed by the heavily marketed singers like Kane Brown, and Sam Hunt.
There's a more neo-traditional Nashville sound, which is led by the likes of Luke Combs, and Jon Pardi.
There's the new-age alternative country which is led by super young writers who turned solo artist. This is led and kind of started by Hardy, but I believe ERNEST fits this category.
Then there's the huge "Americana" movement of country. This is where the sleeping giants lie. The young people who don't enjoy what Nashville is pushing, are turning to this movement. It has absolutely fantastic artists; Sturgill Simpson, Jason Isbell, Tyler Childers, Colter Wall, Sierra Ferrell, and the list goes on. The main goal of this genre is to highlight lyrical content and get back to the old sounds and styles of country music.
There are a ton of different little niches in country, and it's just a blast to really dig in and study them all.
